Setting

This book takes place in the town of Trout, Idaho. The time period seems to be sometime in the 1970's. Trout is a very small town, from what it says maybe a thousand people. According to Louie, the high school is so small that they have to play 8-man football rather than the normal 11-man football teams. In my mind this contributed towards some of the racism towards Washington during the football game. But I will elaborate more on this in my research section. As a result of the small amount of people I think that a lot of the people in the school are a lot closer, more of friendlier atmosphere. They help each other out in troublesome situations.
